When it comes to organizing our spaces, having the right tools, easily accessible can make all the difference. As a professional home organizer, I’ve spent countless hours in clients kitchens, closets, garages, and playrooms — and over time, I’ve learned which tools truly make the process smoother, faster, and more enjoyable.
Think of your organizing toolkit like your own personal assistant: it should be stocked with simple, reliable items that support you as you declutter, sort, and label with ease. Whether you’re tackling a messy pantry or refreshing your wardrobe storage, having the right supplies on hand will help you stay focused so you can get the job done faster.
Because at the end of the day, the goal isn’t to spend your life organizing, it is to quickly and efficiently set up systems that will make YOUR family’s lives easier, so you can focus your time and energy on what really matters to you.
Here’s how to build your home organizing toolkit like a pro — with everything I personally rely on when organizing client spaces.

1. A Label Maker You Love
We are always, always, always labeling – I love this P-Touch label maker for the price and for the ease of use. The tape options come in clear, white, or black depending on what surface you are applying the label to. When we organize clients homes, we are often switching between different tape colours to make sure its asthically pleasing.
2. Label Clips for Various Baskets
These are the clips that we often use on baskets and bins to apply the labels. I love having a bag of these handy for easy labeling. I really cannot stress enough how important labelling is to the overall success of your organizing so I really do believe it it worth making sure you have an effective labeling set up.
3. Pre-Designed Labels
For almost every pantry, bathroom, and laundry room, I love bringing these pre-printed organizing labels. They are really all encompassing and almost always have the label that we need.
4. Tag Scrapper
This tool is absolutely CLUTCH for organizing, and frankly, just for life. Anytime you need to remove an anyone sticker or label, this guy is amazing. Totally cannot recommend this one enough!!
5. Basic Stationaries
You are going to want a tape measure, scissors, a sharpie and post-it notes in your bag. I use post-it notes all the time to make my sorting categories and I urge you to do the same!
6. A Tote or Caddy
Finally, keep your tools in one easy-to-carry tote. You’ll be more likely to stay consistent if your essentials are always ready to go. Think of it as your organizing “go bag.”
